The Development of Silly Songz
Silly Songz is a way to send audio/visual
post cards from iPhone. It is the brainchild of Spazzles, with music by WOW! Music. As the developer
for the project, we wrote both the client and server code. Silly
Songz uses a backend server in Dallas for media processing. We
brought Silly Songz from idea to submission-ready in five weeks out
of the six we had planned. For this to happen three companies in
different parts of the US had to coordinate efforts. For our part we
had to quickly write, debug, and test the client and server code. We
used off-the-shelf open source solutions for the media server in
order to guarantee robustness and save time. We are still the
maintainers of the Silly Songz media server and we have not
encountered any technical or scalability issues yet.
